A delicious French Toast Casserole elevated with juicy blueberries and a creamy custard. Finished with caramelized honey-roasted pecans & chopped Twix for a gourmet touch.
Prep Steps
- 12 oz dinner rolls into 1-inch cubes {do:cut}
- 5 oz Twix candy bars {do:chop}
- 1/2 cup honey roasted pecans {do:chop}
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter into 1/4-inch pieces {do:cut}
Assemble
Spread evenly in a 9x13-inch baking dish...
- 12 oz dinner rolls, cut into 1-inch cubes
In a bowl, toss together...
- 2 cups frozen blueberries
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Scatter the coated blueberries evenly over the bread.
In a medium bowl, whisk together well...
- 12 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp kosher salt{tip:We test with Morton kosher salt. Using table salt? Use about 3/4 as much. Diamond Crystal? Use about 1 1/2 times as much.}
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Pour the egg mixture over the bread, then sprinkle evenly over the top...
- 5 oz Twix candy bars, chopped
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup honey roasted pecans, chopped
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch pieces
Chill
Cover with foil and refrigerate for 8 hours, or overnight.
Bake & Serve
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake with the foil on for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake 25 minutes more.
Let rest 15 minutes, then serve.
