Bring to a boil a quart of water in a saucepan. Once boiling, remove from heat then add...

  • 2 family sized Black Lipton Tea bags

Cover with a lid and let steep for 6 minutes.

Remove tea bags without squeezing them. Squeezing the tea bags will release the bitter tannins in the tea so is not recommended.

Dissolve into the hot tea...

  • 2 cups sugar (or to taste)

Once sugar has dissolved, move to a gallon container and continue to fill with cold water.

For a flavored variety, add 1/2 cup of peach syrup or raspberry syrup for a whole gallon. Or a 1/2 tablespoon of syrup for an 8 oz glass.

Serve in a tall ice filled glass. Enjoy!

I learned how to make this tea on my first fast food job at Pals. It might seem sweet to the northern tongue, but that's how southerners like it. It was always made extra strong to account for the extra water added as your ice began to melt, so you'll never have watered down tea.
