In a large mixing bowl, whisk together...

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Dice into 1-inch pieces...

  • 1 loaf french bread

Add to the bowl and gently toss until every single piece has soaked up the liquid.

Melt in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat...

  • 2 tbsp butter

Pull a large handful of the soaked bread pieces from the bowl and drop them into the hot skillet, spreading them out into a single layer. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side, tossing gently, until all edges are deeply golden brown and crisp.

Remove from the pan, melt in another layer of butter, and repeat with the remaining bread.

Serve warm with a side of maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar.
